Since the opening of Don Bosco Hotel School in 2007 about 400 students have been graduated. All of them have been successfully integrated into society through our educational project and subsequent employment. They found easily a job and work in the hospitality industry in Cambodia. Through the past students association they remain in touch with the Don Bosco Hotel School and become their ambassadors.
Here just one example: Darapheap has been amongst our recent graduates. He is now working as a trainee chef in a hotel close by. When he arrived at our school, Darapheap dreamt of acquiring skills that would enable him to find a good job and eventually become “a good chef at a 5-star hotel.” His dream is now well on the way to become true thanks to the sponsors of the Don Bosco Hotel School. Like most of our students, Darapheap comes from a poor family living at the outskirts of Phnom Penh where his parents sell seafood at the markets. While the income is barely enough to provide for the family’s living expenses, there was not enough money to provide for the education of Darapheap.
At present 60 students follow the second year courses and will finish their scholarship at the end of July, whilst 90 students are in the first year.
